Sculpture 1
May Williams
Sculpture I is an introductory course that focuses on basic sculptural concepts relevant to object making. The students will be provided with the opportunity to explore various 'subtractive method’ carving techniques to create a series of sculptural forms. Students will primarily be working with both plaster and stone as expressive sculptural mediums. Emphasis is focused on the understanding of three-dimensional design principles, structural concepts, proportions, form and strengthening observation skills. An examination of historical and contemporary artwork and suggested gallery visits will correspond to assignments.
