Artists Talk with LVA: June 19, 2025

2025 Art[squared] Online Auction is ONE WEEK AWAY! Featured artists Sabra Crockett, Al Gorman, & Aaron Raymer joined us in the studio this week. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artx.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

Albertus Gorman is an artist and art advocate who lives in Louisville, KY.. In addition to making and exhibiting his own artwork, he has an extensive background in the visual arts having worked at Louisville Visual Art and the Cultural Art Center in New Albany. He also have a love for the natural world which informs the art he makes.

Born a Yankee, and wandering through the South, Sabra Crockett finally found her home in Louisville, Kentucky with all the beautiful song birds surrounding her, and the most spectacular variety of trees she could possibly hope for.

Louisville native Aaron Raymer earned a BFA in 2006 at University of Louisville, and a MFA in 2008 at New York University with full scholarship support at both institutions. He has shown in New York (Kate Werble Gallery), across the US Midwest and South, and in Santiago Chile in an exhibition curated by Sebastian Errazuriz. He has been interviewed and reviewed by the New York Times along with other publications. He spent 9 years in New York consulting, fabricating and working with galleries most notably Marian Goodman Gallery and art fairs, like Miami Basel, Frieze NY, and Frieze London to name a few. Raymer is a father, and has taught in the University of Louisville Hite Institute of Art + Design since 2017. He is represented by Garner Large and Garner Narrative in Louisville KY.

We’re thrilled to invite you to LVA’s 12th annual art[squared] online auction, showcasing 12" x 12" works from 40 local, established artists and 8" x 8" pieces from over 100 additional artists from across Louisville. It’s your chance to support local art while collecting original work!

View the exhibition, in-person, Monday, June 23rd - Wednesday, June 25th,  from 10 AM - 4 PM
at Louisville Visual Art on 1538 Lytle St, Louisville, KY.
Tickets will not be required to participate in the online auction, only the Auction Party. Tickets for the auction party are available now!

Artists Talk With LVA: June 16, 2022

Featured Artist Sabra Crockett and LVA Board Member Elizabeth Feldpausch join us to speak about the 2022 Art[squared] Online Auction, which opens June 21. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artxfm.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

She has exhibited widely around Kentucky including at The Art Center of the Bluegrass, Danville, and Kore Gallery in Louisville.

Elizabeth Feldpausch is a Trust Principal with the Glenview Trust Company, and a licensed attorney in the states of Kentucky, Indiana, and Florida. In addition to being a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, she is also a member of the Louisville Bar Association and the Estate Planning Council of Metro Louisville. Elizabeth earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law, where she served as a staff editor and editorial board member on The Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, & Natural Resources Law.

She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Georgetown College, where she earned a double major in Psychology and Communication & Media Studies and currently serves on the Georgetown College Alumni Board. A Louisville native, Elizabeth is a graduate of Louisville Eastern High School.

Elizabeth serves as Secretary and Director of the Board for Louisville Visual Art. She is a volunteer ‘Big Sister” with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and a member of the Junior League of Louisville. Additionally, Elizabeth participated in the Fund For the Arts NeXt Ambassador Program Class of 2020, and participated in Focus Louisville in 2021.

Artists Talk With LVA: June 9, 2022

Simone Brown & Nikolai Denchev are 2 of the Featured Artists for the 2022 Art[squared] Online Auction and this week we talked with them about their work. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artxfm.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

Simone Renae Brown is a Louisville native who earned her BFA from Eastern Kentucky University in 2018.
She has exhibited around the state and has returned to Louisville to join what she believes is a thriving community of artists.

Nikolai Denchev is originally from Chirpan, Bulgaria. He began studying art seriously in the eighth grade at Dechko Uzoonov Art High School in Kanzanluk, Bulgaria. Nikolai moved to Louisville, Kentucky, in August 2003. Nikolai has exhibited in Chirpan and Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, and in Louisville, Kentucky, and Bloomington, Indiana.

His work was chosen by My Morning Jacket to be included with their fourth album Z, and the cover art for Amherst's album The Detail.

Both Simone and Nikolai are Featured Artists in the 2022 Art[squared] Online Auction to Benefit Louisville Visual Art. Bidding opens at 6:00 pm on June 21 and closes at 9:00 pm on June 23.

Carlos Gamez de Francisco is the winner of the 2021 Fischer Award for Visual Art and one of the Featured Artists in the 2021 LVA art[squared] Online Auction, so there was plenty to talk about! Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM, or stream on Artxfm.com Thursdays at 10 am.

Cuban-born artist Carlos Gamez de Fransisco is a painter, sculptor, photographer, and filmmaker who is interested in history and storytelling in his work. Gamez de Francisco uses a Baroque aesthetic with a sense of contemporary fashion to create portraits that blend historical references with a modern painterly approach. His work has been collected by the Evansville Museum, 21C Museum, the Fashion Resource Center at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cuba Ocho Museum and Performing Arts Center, Polanco’s Collection in Havana, Cuba, and Louisville’s Metro Hall.

Carlos is the winner of the 2021 Fischer Award for Visual Art, granted by the Community Foundation of Louisville and Louisville Visual Art. He is also one of the Featured Artists for the 2021 art[squared] Fundraiser

Printmaker Norman Spencer is one of the Featured Artists for the 2021 art[squared] Auction j and he is our guest this week. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 Fm, or stream on Artxfm.com Thursdays at 10 am to hear artists talk about their work.

A Louisville native, Norman Spencer is known for his printmaking. His work focuses on themes such as identity, community, and the human relationship to their surroundings. His artworks are in private collections around the country.
