Matt Wallace has served as Producing Artistic Director of Kentucky Shakespeare since August 2013, directing productions of As You Like It, King Lear, The Comedy of Errors, Othello, Titus Andronicus, Much Ado About Nothing, Julius Caesar, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, Macbeth, The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, and Richard III. Acting credits with the company include the Player and Guildenstern in productions of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, Antonio in The Merchant of Venice, Orlando in As You Like It, Dumaine in Love’s Labor’s Lost, and Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Amy Attaway joined Kentucky Shakespeare as Associate Artistic Director in 2016, after several summers directing with the company. She’s directed Henry IV Part One and Part Two, Richard II, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, The Winter’s Tale, The Taming of the Shrew, and Henry V,  as well as Shakespeare in the Parks tours of Macbeth and Midsummer Night’s Dream and the indoor collaborations with Louisville Public Media, The War of the Worlds and Night of the Living Dead. She was also a co-founder of Theatre [502].

Aaron Bibelhauser is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and vintage bluegrass music enthusiast from Louisville, KY. In addition to writing songs recorded by award-winning bluegrass artists including Del McCoury Band, Balsam Range, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Dale Ann Bradley, and The Wooks, he’s taken first place in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest and earned a nomination for the IBMA’s prestigious Song Of The Year Award.

Dr. Janna Segal (Dramaturg) is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at UofL, where she teaches classes in theatre history, dramatic literature, dramaturgy, and Shakespeare.

Jada Dixon (Writer) is an actor, director, playwright, teaching artist, and facilitator based in Colorado. She is a two-time True West Award Winner and was also accepted into the 2019 Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab.

Clara Harris (Writer) has worked and collaborated on projects for stage, film, and audio as an actor, writer, and producer. She is also the founder of Swamp Witch Studio, which produces Night Owl Theatre, an audio drama podcast.

Keith McGill (Writer) is an actor and director, most recently having directed GHOST for StageOne Children’s Theatre, as well as a playwright. He is also a freelance teaching artist for Commonwealth Theatre Center (CTC), Actors Theatre, and ArtsReach.

before coming to ATL Robert Barry Fleming served as Associate Artistic Director at Cleveland Play House from 2016–2019. Prior to Cleveland Play House, he served as the Director of Artistic Programming at Arena Stage; world premieres he commissioned, developed and championed during this tenure include the 2017 Best Musical Tony Award-winner Dear Evan Hansen, Mary Kathryn Nagle’sSovereignty, John Strand’s The Originalist, Katori Hall’s Blood Quilt, Karen Zacarías’ Destiny Of Desire and the 2017 Pulitzer Prize winner Sweat, by Lynn Nottage. Fleming was an Associate Producer for the Off-Broadway premiere of The Two-Character Play by Tennessee Williams, starring Amanda Plummer and Brad Dourif. He was also an Associate Professor (tenured) and Chair of the University of San Diego Theatre Arts and Performance Studies Department.

Playwright Larry Muhammad, founder of KY Black Repertory Theatre, actor and producer Alphaeus Green, Jr, and teacher, actor, director & activist Kristi Papailler, all of whom have worked extensively in the Louisville area.

We join the conversation as Larry Muhammad is talking about the original production of Double V, his play about Frank Stanley, Sr. the founder of The Louisville Defender.

Note: the name Kristi is trying to recall near the very end is Eugene Nesmith, former Co-Director of the African American Theatre Program at the University of Louisville.

Larry Muhammad is a playwright and former journalist working for the Courier-Journal. His plays have been produced widely including a New York production of Looking for Leroy in 2019. He is the founder of the Black Repertory Theatre.

Alphaeus Green, Jr., is an actor and producer who worked extensively in Louisville for Black Repertory Theatre, Faithworks Studios, Stage One Family Theatre, Smoked Apple Theatre, and Savage Rose Classical Theatre Company.

Kristi Papailler is an actor, director, teacher and activist who is now Assistant Professor of Theatre at California State University San Bernardino. A Louisville native, she taught at Central High School and was the co-founder of the Juneteenth Theatre Company.

Janelle Renee Dunn, originally from Duncan, South Carolina, is a director, producer and teaching artist. She earned a MFA in Acting from the University of Louisville and a BA in Theatre (Directing) from Berea College. Janelle Renee is currently a Learning and Creative Engagement Associate for Actors Theatre. Janelle Renee is also the founder and producer of Ain't I a Woman Playfest, a theatre festival highlighting the work of women of color playwrights. 

LaTasha Pace is a wife and mother of two daughters (17 and 24). LaTasha received her MBA in Business Administration from Clemson University and works in contract management. In her down time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is an avid reader and traveler. Being a parent and role model for her daughters is an important part of her life journey. For her, parenting is about being present, instilling values of faith, hope and resilience, all while teaching her daughters how to purposefully take up space.

Alexander Josiah Griggs is a proud transman who began transitioning in 2014. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Simmons College of KY in 2019 and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Alexander is an advocate and activist for trans and gender variant persons. He is a writer and an artist dedicated to the advancement of his community.
