Opening reception, Sunday, April 19, 1:00 to 4:00 pm

Join us for a special exhibition celebrating the legacy of the Louisville School of Art. Founded in 1909, LSA was Kentucky’s only four-year professional college of art, first located at the University of Louisville, then in Anchorage from 1969 to 1981, and finally at The Cloister in Louisville until 1985. LSA felt like home to generations of artists, and this show wants to celebrate by bringing together nearly 30 former students and staff artists for a reunion.

Featuring artists including Dede Arcadipone, Peter Bodnar, Dave Caudill, Gayle Cerlan, Buddy Colucci, Don Coomes, Katherine Corcoran, William Duffy, Denise Furnish, Rebecca Graves, Ed Hamilton, Rodgell Helm, Lee St. James, Gary Jennings, Fred Maurer, Joyce Ogden, Art Orr, Jacque Parsley, Deane Patton, Colleen Reasor, Ken Reker, Nick Roberts, Martin Rollins, Paul Rossmann, Keith Waits, Teresa Waller, Brenda Wirth, and more!

Doomscroll: A Group Art Show About Resistance, Grief & Resilience. will run through May 3rd at Grady Goods + Artpunk Gallery.

Doomscroll invited artists to create artwork that critiques, examines, and uses visual symbols to convey messages and inspire action. To shine a light on current events, politics, and/or to advocate for a specific cause. Artistic reactions to the American condition and current political climate.

Artists Talk with LVA: April 2, 2026

Elle Hendrickson’s "They seemed neither, and yet both," is on exhibit at The Quonset Hut, and this week they join us in the studio. Tune into Artists Talk with LVA on WXOX 97.1 FM at 10 AM each Thursday.

Elle Hendrickson is an interdisciplinary artist, painter, curator, documentary filmmaker, and freelance producer based between Casey County and Louisville, KY. Their work explores the edge of performance and visual art and has worked on collaborative projects internationally with the Open Program of the Work Center of Jerzy Grotowski (Italy/Turkey/Lebanon/USA); Hyunji Park (Korea/Finland); Gianluigi Biagini (Finland/Italy); Pietro Varrasso (Belgium); ‍

Aside from their artistic pursuits, Hendrickson is committed to education. They have served as Drawing and Painting faculty at the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts since 2022 and have co-facilitated intensive summer workshops in collaboration with Projet Daena and the Royal Conservatory of Liege in Belgium since 2019. In the academic year of 2022-2023, they served as the Art & Design Artist-in-Residence at Campbellsville University.

Leslie Millar is a Louisville native who has resided in Cherokee Triangle for over twenty-five years. Millar taught Freshman Composition and English Literature at the University of Louisville from 1989 to 1991 and from 2009 to 2017. Leslie and her husband James own and operate the Quonset Hut, a fine art press, gallery, and event space.

Millar has acted as a board member/trustee for numerous community organizations including: the ACLU of Kentucky, Cherokee Triangle Association, Highland Presbyterian Weekday School, Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft (KMAC), Masterson Equestrian Trust, and Sarabande Books. Millar is a founding board member of Squallis Puppeteers and ARTxFM WXOX 97.1 FM. Millar chaired the Annual Fund Campaign at Louisville Collegiate School and the Capital Campaign at KMAC.

KMAC Couture is on March 28th, and this week, Malcolm Fife, Louis Taylor-Barks, & Jacob Grant will join us in the studio. Tune into Artists Talk with LVA on WXOX 97.1 FM at 10 AM.

Malcolm Fife is a Kentucky resident who recently graduated (2022) with a BFA in Printmaking and Painting from Murray State University. He has shown work in Bowling Green, Lexington, Evansville, and Henderson. He is a member of ArtWorks Bowling Green, Murray Art Guild, Lexington Art League, Henderson Society of Art, and Ohio Valley Art League. He currently works at Hadley Pottery.

Louis Taylor-Banks is a retired Navy veteran who describes himself as “kind of a maker”.

Jacob Grant is Artist & Curator @revelrygallery. He earned a BA in Art History + Philosophy from the University of Louisville and is a candidate for an MA in Critical & Curatorial Studies from the Hite Institute of Art + Design at U of L.

Artists Talk with LVA: March 19, 2026

The 2026 LVA Honors is on March 20th, and this week, Education Honoree Ying Kit Chan will join us in the studio. Tune into Artists Talk with LVA on WXOX 97.1 FM each Thursday at 10 AM.

Ying Kit Chan has served on the University of Louisville faculty in the Hite Institute for Art + Design since 1984, dedicating over four decades to art, teaching, and service at the university and in the profession.

His research and creative practices across multiple media focus on a philosophical approach to nature, the environment, and sustainability. He has participated in over 200 solo and group exhibitions in the United States and internationally, including museums and galleries in Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, Ecuador, Colombia, Germany, Korea, Japan, England, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Portugal. Chan’s art projects have earned numerous honors, including two Kentucky Arts Council Al Smith Visual Arts Fellowships (1994, 2002), a National Endowment for the Arts/Southern Arts Federation Visual Arts Fellowship (1992), and two Great Meadows Foundation professional development travel grants.

In recognition of his teaching, Chan received the Distinguished Teaching Award from the College of Arts and Sciences (2017) and the Outstanding Faculty Mentor of Master's Students Award from the Graduate School (2024).

Chan has regularly led student trips to visit New York and Chicago. He has also taken students to study in Paris, Hong Kong, and China, and will lead a group to Japan in the summer of 2026. He also established an exchange program with the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University, enabling a dozen UofL students to study for a semester in Hong Kong. Through museum visits and travel experiences, students directly engage with diverse artistic and cultural traditions. These experiences extend classroom learning to a richer and deeper understanding of art and the world, empowering students to become global citizens.
