Kristian Anderson has 18+ years’ experience in the arts and culture sector, including as Senior Policy Advisor to the Mayor of Salt Lake City. Prior to that, Kristian was for four years the Executive Director of the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and Executive Director for the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries in Seattle. He was the founder and host of “SLC Culture” – a weekly radio show highlighting arts, culture and social issues.
For the past 3 years he was the Executive Director of LVA where he achieved fiscal stability and growth during a time when a global pandemic brought unprecedented challenges to all non-profit arts organizations. He oversaw the first phase of renovations for the LVA facility in Portland, which focused on bringing the building up to code and giving it greater accessibility, developed the Artist Resource Series providing advice and instruction for practicing adult artists, and in partnership with artist and donor Clare Hirn initiated the Curate Purchase and Inspire (CPI) program designed to foster curatorial practice and install permanent exhibits of art purchased from local artists in community non-profits.
Grant Johnson is Strategic Communications Coordinator for LVA. He holds an MFA in Printmaking from West Virginia University, and a BA in Religion from Williams College. His work life includes 13 years’ experience teaching all studio art disciplines, art history, film, and art education at the college level. He has also worked as a freelance graphic designer, in online retail, and in a variety of sales and management positions.
A working artist, Grant’s studio practice focuses on commissioned oil portraits, but also includes sculpture, video, printmaking, and drawing.
Grant’s passions for writing and for LVA’s mission find additional purpose in his role as the organization’s in-house Grants Administrator. His lifelong commitment to promoting the value of visual art and art education has never been more at home than it is at LVA.
Cynthia Kelly Overall is a Bardstown, Kentucky artist well known for her oil paintings depicting rural landscapes and pastoral scenes. Her work holds an unmistakable luminosity and technical application reminiscent of Old Dutch masterworks with just a hint of a Kentucky accent.
She received her B.A. from the University of Kentucky, and her Master of Art and Master of Fine Art Degrees from the famed Rosary Graduate School of Fine Art in Florence, Italy.
Following two shows at the Villa Schifanosa in Florence, Cynthia returned to the United States, where she has exhibited in New York, Morehead State University; Frankfort, Kentucky; Atlanta; and at The Midwest Museum of American Art; and various other galleries throughout the United States.
Overall’s latest work focuses her attention to Dutch Golden Age Still Lifes, a popular movement that emerged in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age.
Cynthia Kelly Overall's Fifty-One Shades of Gray...Still Life in the Dutch Manner. Open at Wheelhouse Art with a reception this Friday, August 18, 6:00 - 8:00 pm. There will be a gallery talk with the artist at 7:00 pm. The exhibition continues through September 30, 2023.

Yoko Molotov- Wilderness Years installation through LVA
Yoko is a Louisville, Kentucky-based multimedia artist specializing in transgressive, gender-fluid comics, art, poetry, and performances. Molotov has exhibited work at Land of Tomorrow in Louisville and Lexington, Sheherazade Gallery in Louisville, and the Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany, Indiana. As a musician, Molotov performs in projects such as Harpy, WEEK, and meat mama.
Zac Hoogendyk - Shotz! and DCP plays: Over My Dead Body.
Zac is a Louisville-based actor, writer, and director. He holds an MFA from the Case Western Reserve University and The Cleveland Play House. In the last few years, he climbed Kilimanjaro, ran his first marathon, and got married. One of those was much easier than the other two. He is a proud member of AEA.
Camera Lucida is Jon Silpayamanant & Roxell Karr - Closing Night
Roxell Karr is a multi-media artist residing in the greater Louisville, KY area. His main focus is on live interactive video projections performed with dancers, musicians, and performance artists. He works with a wide variety of analog, digital, and optical sources to create his artwork.
He has worked with new music ensembles such as Ensemble / Parallax, the Mothership Ensemble, and the November Group; dance troupes such as Blue Moves, the Moving Collective, and members of the Louisville Ballet; theatrical groups Teatro Tercera Llamada, El Delirio, Looking for Lilith and the Kentucky Opera.
Thomas Wortham Rallis is a multi-media artist whose first solo exhibit, “American Made” opens at Revelry Gallery on August 4, 2023. There is a reception from 6 - 9 pm. In our conversation, we reference this piece quite a bit.
