Patrick Donley is a sculptor, musician, and "whim-sologist".  He made his reputation through colorful, collage-laden, abstract paintings. In the late 90's, he took a break from visual art to perform and record with the band Jakeleg.  After that he switched gears, and began producing wall-mounted, found-object sculptures.  His last body of work, The Memento Series, represented an attempt to marry his love of paint with his vast, obsessive collection of found objects and photos.  That melding of two and three dimensions, emblematic of a need to create order out of chaos is further discovered in his latest project.

SHARON M. SCOTT established ARTxFM in 2011 with the purpose of providing artists and community members access to the airwaves for creative and experimental use. Streaming live around the world 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the ARTxFM schedule includes music, talk, and experimental programming.

She is also an author, artist, and cultural historian. Her premier book Toys and American Culture: An Encyclopedia received outstanding reviews from Booklist, The American Journal of Play, and Lawrence Looks at Books.

Sharon has spoken on the importance of freeform broadcasting at national events such as the Grassroots Radio Conference, College Broadcasters Inc., and the CMJ Music Marathon. Her radio advocacy on behalf of artists and community members has gained the attention of publications such as The Chronicle of Higher Education, Southern Living, The College Music Journal, and The New York Times. 

Artists Talk With LVA: September 8, 2022

The 2022 KMAC Triennial: Divided We Fall, connects concerns relevant to our geographic region with issues that define the larger national narrative, revealing how our landscape can be a site of conflict and resistance, as well as a place of unity and mutual respect.

The exhibition is officially open to the public until November 6th, 2022.

J. Daniel Graham comes from a family of storytellers. His mother was a basket maker and calligrapher and the lessons of engineering and risk from my dad. He studied Printmaking at the University of Florida and the University of Georgia, where he earned his Masters degree.  Graham also trained as a custom woodworker under woodworker Dennis Sitka in  Washington, D.C.  Currently, he is a Professor of Art and Chair of the Art Department at Georgetown College in Georgetown Kentucky where he teaches a variety of courses including Sculpture, Printmaking, 3D Design, Metal Casting, and Package Design.

Hannah Smith graduated with an MFA from the School of Art and Visual Studies at the University of Kentucky. They are currently teaching graphic design, printmaking, and sculpture at the University of Kentucky and Northern Kentucky University. Smith is also a Lead Teaching Artist with ArtWorks Cincinnati. They are also an instructor with the GSA in Kentucky.

Smith was honored at the 2022 Future Art Awards: Ecosystem X from Mozaik Philanthropy in Los Angeles, CA.

Artists Talk With LVA: September 1, 2022

Jaylin Stewart just completed a large mural at California Community Center as part of being the first artist in the Artist Catalyst program with LVA & Mural Arts Philadelphia. Jaylin Stewart is an artist from West Louisville who has dedicated her talents to victims of violence & the community by creating therapeutic artwork. Although primarily a painter, her three-dimensional installation, God Rest America, was at Scheherezade Gallery in 2019. In 2021 she received the Emerging Artist Award at the 2021 LVA Honors and in 2022 she was the first person in the Artist’s Catalyst program with Mural Arts Philadelphia and Louisville Visual Art resulting in the “This Is Home” a new mural at the California Community Center which was dedicated on August 27.

Desmone Stepp is the Outreach Coordinator for Louisville Visual Arts. She is a recent graduate from the University of Louisville, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Art with a minor in Psychology. As a Health Advocate Leader, Desmone also worked in outreach, organizing and facilitating workshops that connected the campus community. She has also worked as an artist and volunteer with the Healing Walls Project, an organization of BIPOC artists who travel across the United States promoting healing and justice, for those who have been marginalized and oppressed, through the use of public art.

AFFIRMATIONS OF COLOR AND LIFE & THE ALLIED DRAWERS CONSORTIUM: PAINTINGS & DRAWINGS

September 2 through the 25th at Pyro Gallery

“Affirmations of Color and Life” are recent painting of Aaron Lubrick. Lubrick’s work depicts many scenes from his daily interactions of being an art teacher, father, and artist. Finding moments of color orchestrated within compositions of playgrounds, construction scenes, and still-lifes. Lubrick relies on symbolism and an overall sense of gesture to make his paintings feel fresh and alive.

The Allied Drawers Consortium will also be represented in September at Pyro Gallery. Each artist will have one figure drawing represented and one personal piece of art. Aaron Lubrick was a founding member of The Allied Drawers Consortium. The following member artists have been drawing together for 5 years now: Noah Howard, Colleen Clines, Maggie Clines, Richard Sullivan, Kevin Arthur, and Aaron Lubrick.
