Artists Talk with LVA: August 28, 2025

Director Alyssa Hendricks and producer Michelle Lori from The Chamber Theatre discuss their production of The Harlan Women on Artists Talk with LVA on WXOX 97.1 FM at 10 a.m.

Michelle Lori is a Theatre professional engaged in acting, directing, playwriting and arts administration for The Chamber Theatre, Inc. a Kentucky nonprofit theatre since 2016. She also works as a theatre professional with other area community and semi-professional theatres. Her past professional experience includes Actors Theatre of Louisville and Presbyterian Church USA.

Alysa Hendricks is a Training, Development, and Quality Manager at Generation Tux, but also once taught theatre in the Oldham County Schools and has been very active with local theatre companies in this area. She attended Arizona State University and the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts

The Harlan Women will be performed at Jeffersonville's NoCo Arts & Cultural District in Jeffersonville on September 4, 5, and 6 and at the green space outside Louisville Visual Art on September 11, 12, and 13. All shows begin at 7 p.m. Get tickets at thechambertheatre.org

Artists Talk with LVA: August 21, 2025

Indiana muralist Carrie Johns has been super busy, but found the time to join us this week in the studio. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM / Artxfm.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

Carrie Johns has completed over a dozen murals in Southern Indiana, as well as several others in Louisville. All of them are designed for a specific location and purpose. Her largest mural, covering 3,700 square feet, is located on the Elsby East building just outside of her studio.  She has an Art History degree from the University of Louisville and has worked for the Weber Group before becoming a full-time mural artist.

Immediately after this interview, Carrie was off to Corydon, Indiana to put the finishing touches on her latest project for the Harrison County Public Library.

Artists Talk with LVA: August 14, 2025

Mollie Murk is an actor, director, and teaching artist. In Louisville, they have worked most often for Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, playing Hamlet this past summer, Lady Macbeth, Viola in Twelfth Night, and The Woman in KSF’s 2021 Halloween thriller, The Turn of the Screw. Mollie has directed for three witches shakespeare. 

Mollie is an alum of Hope College and Shakespeare & Company’s Center for Actor Training, and is a proud member of the Ring of Keys Network: www.RingofKeys.org/keys/Mollie-Murk.

They have also performed at Actors Theatre of Louisville (The Wolves, Dracula, Dracula: The Radio Play, and Are You There?) Hope Summer Repertory Theatre, Derby Dinner Playhouse, Know Theatre of Cincinnati, Suspend Aerial Arts, and have enjoyed teaching at Commonwealth Theatre Center, Seattle Children’s Theatre, and Lookingglass Theatre Company.

Artists Talk with LVA: August 7, 2025

Louisville-based fiber artist Debra Harley discusses her first solo exhibition at Capacity Contemporary Exchange Gallery in Louisville. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artxfm.com at 10 am each Thursday to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

Debra Harley is a Louisville-based fiber artist. She devoted over 35 years of her professional career to education, curriculum development, and teacher training in New Orleans, LA. After retirement, she became certified as a Personal Trainer and Aquatic Fitness Instructor. A former U. S. Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya and Fulbright Scholar in Zimbabwe, her focus on fiber arts comes after over 40 years of practicing various textile arts. 

Her first solo exhibition Kairos/Chronos, Experience in Fiber. The work of Debra Harley is currently on display at Capacity Contemporary Exchange Gallery in Louisville.

Artists Talk with LVA: July 30, 2025

Artist & theatre designer Karl Anderson discusses his new solo exhibit at Kore Gallery, "Kaleidoscope". Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artxfm.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

Karl Anderson is a freelance visual artist/painter and theatrical scenic designer. He has worked for Actors Theatre of Louiville, Stage One Family Theatre, Pandora Productions, and Kentucky Shakespeare, among many others. "Kaleidoscope", an exhibit of his newest work as a visual artist will open at Kore Gallery on August 2 with a reception from 6 - 8:30 pm.

Abstract Landscapes: a New Look by Chris Hartsfield will also be opening at that time.
